Classical Revolution Calgary
CHAMBER MUSIC FOR THE PEOPLE!
We're dedicated to creating unique musical happenings for listeners, performers, and everyone in between.
Classical Revolution as a concept started in San Francisco, with a group of eager chamber musicians performing at the Revolution Café. While playing classical chamber music in an informal setting might not qualify as a revolutionary act by itself, the performances were marked by such vitality, spontaneity, and an infectiously welcoming attitude, that the name stuck. In fact, chapters started sprouting in other cities, wherever a community of like-minded, chamber-music-loving musicians found one another.
We started Calgary's chapter in 2012, inspired by our year as Canada's cultural capital. Long associated with Café Koi, where we ran a first Mondays series since March 2012, we've also performed sets at Market Collective, the Arrata Opera Centre, and most recently, Gravity Espresso and Wine Bar in Inglewood. Still curious what it's all about? Come check out a performance, and experience it for yourself!
Classical Revolution Calgary's organizing team includes Eileen Kosasih, Sean Perrin, and Matt Heller. We're always looking for more passionate musicians eager to perform, or to help organize, publicize, and present shows - let us know if you're down for any of that!
